Solid, but room to grow

I signed up for the annual plan to handle my Financial Planning and Client Management. The overall experience was quite good; the interface was intuitive, and setting up new clients was simple enough. I particularly liked the automated billing feature. However, I found the Team Management aspect a little less robust than I expected. It did the job, but I've seen other platforms with more granular control over team member permissions. Still, it's a good value for the yearly cost.

Got my money's worth

I was looking for something affordable to manage my projects and track time, so I checked out Harpoon. I got the annual billing discount, which saved me a bit, and they offered two months free, which was a nice bonus. The Timesheets and Profitability Reports were exactly what I needed to keep an eye on my budget. Felt like a solid investment.

Helped my freelance biz

So I jumped on Harpoon to get my Revenue Goals sorted, and it was pretty easy to get started. I was a bit worried about setting it all up, but the dashboards were really clear. It helped me see where I was at with my projects. Definitely made things feel less chaotic, which is a big win for a freelancer like me.

Reliable as always

I've been using Harpoon for a couple of years now, mostly for Time Tracking and Invoicing. This last quarter, I added Project Forecasting to my plan. Everything worked just as smoothly as it always does. My invoices went out on time, and the time tracking was accurate. It's why I keep coming back.

How does Harpoon stack up against Harvest? I've been using Harvest but looking for something maybe more focused on forecasting.

A Ashley Thompson 3 weeks ago
Harpoon is much stronger on the financial forecasting and revenue goal setting side. Harvest is good for time tracking and invoicing, but Harpoon gives you a clearer picture of future profitability.

I switched from Harvest to Harpoon for exactly that reason. Harpoon's dashboards really help visualize future income and expenses, which Harvest just didn't do as well for me.

What happens after the free trial ends? Do they automatically charge you or does it just stop working?

E Eric Rivera 1 week ago
It just stops working. They don't auto-charge since you don't put in card details for the trial. You have to actively sign up for a paid plan.

R Robert 1 week ago
Nah, no surprise charges. It'll just prompt you to pick a plan if you want to keep using it. Your data stays there for a bit though, so you don't lose everything if you decide to subscribe later.

Thinking of trying Harpoon for my freelance biz. How long is the free trial usually?

J Jeff J. 1 week ago
It's a pretty standard 14 days, gives you enough time to kick the tires and see if it fits your workflow.

S Susan Smith 1 week ago
Yeah, two weeks. I used it to track a couple of projects then decided to commit. No credit card needed upfront for the trial either, which is nice.

Anyone know if Harpoon has any discount codes floating around? Like a Black Friday thing or anything?

D Danielle L. 1 week ago
I've never really seen universal promo codes for them. Usually, any discounts are more like referral links or if you get in through a partner program.

M Mark Lopez 1 week ago
Nah, they mostly push the 14-day trial. The best 'discount' is just paying annually, you save a decent chunk that way.

Is Harpoon good for agencies with like 10+ people? Or is it more for smaller freelancers?

A Alex Jackson 1 month ago
My agency has about 15 people and we've been using it for a year now, works great for team management and resource scheduling. Definitely scalable.

M Matt H. 1 month ago
It handles teams well. We started with 5 and scaled up to 12 without any issues. The client management and project forecasting features are solid for larger groups too.
